Telangana Junior Basketball League concludes on a high note

The 10-day inaugural edition of the Telangana Junior Basketball League (TJBL), India's first franchise-based junior basketball league, concluded at the Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy Indoor Stadium, Yousufguda, marking a milestone for grassroots basketball in the State.

In the finals, Warangal Stallions edged Vikarabad Mambas 79-77 to win the Under-18 Boys title. Vikarabad Mambas lifted the Under-15 Girls crown with a 63-52 victory over Warangal Stallions and also claimed the Under-15 Boys title by defeating Nalgonda Speed Strikers 101-69. Nizam Royals secured the Under-18 Girls championship with a 73-66 win against Nalgonda Speed Strikers.

The tournament showcased outstanding individual performances. Krish starred with a remarkable 72-point display in the Under-15 Boys final, while Shreetej scored 29 points to guide Warangal Stallions to the Under-18 Boys title. Geetha's 30-point effort powered Vikarabad Mambas to the Under-15 Girls championship, and Bhavan contributed 25 points in Nizam Royals' Under-18 Girls triumph.

Sports Authority of Telangana Chairman K. Shiva Sena Reddy was the chief guest at the valedictory function. He, along with Telangana Basketball Association (TBA) President Ravula Sridhar Reddy, General Secretary A. Prudhvishwar Reddy, Chairman Masood Bin Ahmad Zakir and Treasurer N. Chandrasekhar, presented trophies and medals to the winners.

Addressing the players, Shiva Sena Reddy urged them to aim for national and international success, assuring the Telangana Government's continued support for talented athletes.

TBA General Secretary Prudhvishwar Reddy thanked players and parents for supporting the league and said TJBL was the first step towards building a strong basketball ecosystem in Telangana through more leagues and development programmes.

At the end of the tournament, Aaradhya, Krish, Bhavana and Aadvik were named the Most Valuable Players in their respective categories for their outstanding performances. The successful inaugural edition of TJBL is expected to provide a sustainable platform for nurturing young basketball talent in Telangana.
