TDP achieves rare feet outside Telugu states

The Telugu Desam Party has achieved a rare feat even outside the telugu states. TDP’s Shahul Hameed won the election to the post of municipal chairperson in Andaman and Nicobar with the support of the BJP. Elections for the chairperson of Sri Vijayapuram(Previously Port Blair) Municipal Council(SVPMC) in South Andaman were held on Thursday. 

Telugu Desam Party's S. Shahul Hameed contested the election as a candidate of the BJP-TDP alliance. The election was held on Thursday at the SVPMC Conference Hall in South Andaman.  S. Shahul Hameed secured 15 out of 24 votes in this election and defeated Sudip Roy Sharma, the current chairperson and Congress candidate who got the support of nine members. With this victory, S. Shahul Hameed became the second TDP candidate in the history of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to be appointed as the Chairperson of SVPMC.
