Metro India News | AMARAVATI : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu left for New Delhi on Wednesday on a two-day visit during which he is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union ministers to seek approvals and financial support for key State projects. He is expected to seek the Prime Minister’s approval for the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail and Beach Corridor projects and request special financial assistance for drought relief in view of the rainfall deficit and El Niño-linked drought conditions in the State. The government has declared 388 mandals across 21 districts drought-affected for the 2026 Kharif season.
The Chief Minister will also meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to seek support for drought relief and next year’s Godavari Pushkarams. Discussions with Sitharaman are also expected to focus on expediting the Rayalaseema Global Horticulture Hub. During his meeting with Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil, the Chief Minister will raise the issue of utilizing surplus Godavari waters flowing into the sea and seek progress on proposed river-linking initiatives in the State. He is also scheduled to meet Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on infrastructure-related issues.
The Delhi visit will also have an industry and investment component. On Thursday at noon, the Chief Minister will participate with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in the curtain-raiser for the CII Partnership Summit 2026 in New Delhi. The 31st edition of the summit is scheduled to be held in Visakhapatnam on November 12 and 13. He is scheduled to return to Amaravati on Thursday night.
