After a long wait, Dhamaal 4 is finally in theatres with Indra Kumar returning to direct the fourth film in the comedy franchise. The expectations were simple - non-stop laughs, madness and a fun adventure. Sadly, the adventure is there,
but the comedy, which should have been the film’s biggest strength, is missing for most of the runtime.
The story revolves around a hidden treasure. Ajay Devgn and Ravi Kishan are searching for it, but only Upendra Limaye knows its exact location. Soon, everyone starts chasing him to uncover the secret.
The film spends nearly first 40 minutes introducing everyone, making the first half feel slow and dragging.
The comedy feels forced, with only a few genuinely funny moments. Things improve slightly once the entire gang shares the screen, bringing back a little of the old Dhamaal madness.
Actors’ performance
Jaaved Jaaferi is easily the film’s biggest highlight. His comic
timing, expressions and innocent personality still work brilliantly. Sanjay Mishra
also delivers some genuinely funny moments whenever he appears.
Anjali Anand gets a decent role and performs well. However, Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi and Riteish Deshmukh seem to be trying too hard, and unfortunately, most of their jokes fail to land.
FPJ verdict
Dhamaal 4 is loud, silly and completely stress-free, but it forgets the one thing people expect most from this franchise - comedy. Jaaved and
Sanjay Mishra provide some much-needed laughs, but
they can’t save the overall film. Only die-hard Dhamaal fans may enjoy the nostalgic callbacks.
