In a humanitarian initiative, six mentally challenged persons undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital were safely shifted to the “Second Chance Mission Hospital” shelter in Yapral with the joint support of hospital authorities and police officials.
According to officials, the six individuals had been receiving treatment at Gandhi Hospital for the past few days and were found to be in a helpless condition without family support. As they were unable to take care of themselves due to mental health issues, arrangements were made to relocate them to the shelter home where they will receive proper care, accommodation and rehabilitation support.
Among those shifted was a woman who was moved safely in the presence and with the consent of her elder brother. Police appealed to the public to contact Chilakalaguda Police if they can identify the remaining five persons and help trace their family members.
Senior doctors, police officers and shelter coordinators participated in the rescue and rehabilitation effort.
