The ongoing SIT inquiry into alleged phone tapping is widely seen by political analysts as more political than legal, with no arrests, confirmed devices or concrete evidence so far. Experts note that intelligence systems are commonly used by governments to monitor rivals, but such surveillance rarely leaves official records. Advanced tools like Pegasus are believed to be procured unofficially, making verification difficult. Legal experts say evidence gathered without documentation is unlikely to stand in court.

With informal data often destroyed and accountability unclear, analysts believe the probe may fuel political debate but yield limited judicial outcomes. It is after all a case of a probe gone haywire without political will.
