SIR hearings must be error-free: CEO

Metro India News | Hyderabad : Telangana Chief Electoral Officer and District Election Officer Sudarshan Reddy on Friday directed officials to ensure that hearings on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) notices and uploading of certificates were conducted strictly and transparently, without errors. Inspecting the SIR notice hearing and certificate upload process in Uppal and Habsiguda, he reviewed voter verification, submission of documents prescribed by the Election Commission, examination of records and field-level assistance.

Sudarshan Reddy instructed Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant EROs, Supervisors and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to follow the prescribed rules while verifying applications relating to unmapped voters and discrepancies in voter cards.

He stressed the need for thorough scrutiny of documents to ensure that eligible voters’ details were recorded systematically. Officials were asked to deploy adequate staff, set daily targets and follow standard procedures to complete the process within the stipulated time.

The CEO also inspected registers maintained by BLOs and the computer-based document-uploading process. He directed officials to review hearings, applications and objections regularly and resolve them transparently and efficiently.

He further advised voters who had received notices to attend hearings with the required documents and verify their details before proceeding.

Uppal Zonal Commissioner Radhika Gupta, Additional Collector Vijayender Reddy, Tehsildar Pool Singh, Deputy Commissioners, EROs, AEROs, Supervisors, BLOs and others participated in the inspection.
