Metro India News | AMARAVATI : Former MP Vijaya Sai Reddy has said a new chapter is set to begin in Andhra Pradesh politics with the launch of a new regional political party that, according to him, will focus on the development of Rayalaseema and the self-respect of its people. Addressing a press conference in Anantapur, Vijaya Sai Reddy said both the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) had given priority to family-based politics. He claimed that the proposed party would instead take up the responsibility of protecting the interests and regional aspirations of Rayalaseema.

Questioning the coalition government, he asked why the Reddy Corporation had not been revived despite considerable time having passed since it assumed office. He alleged that successive governments had neglected irrigation projects and development works in Rayalaseema, even though leaders from the region had served as Chief Ministers after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. Vijaya Sai Reddy also alleged that Chandrababu Naidu and Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy families focused on politics primarily during elections and claimed that their policies had contributed to migration from Rayalaseema.

He said the proposed regional party would seek to give greater representation to young people and, if voted to power, would work to transform Rayalaseema into a “Ratanala Seema”.  The party would work for the welfare of people across all castes and religions and focus on regional development and the economic opportunities available to local communities. Vijaya Sai Reddy said the proposed political outfit would seek to establish a distinct regional political platform centred on Rayalaseema’s development and the interests of its people.
