Two investments from Japanese tech giants

  1. NTT DATA to set up India’s largest AI Data Center Cluster
  2. Toshiba Expands Power Transmission & Distribution Manufacturing in Telangana

The Government of Telangana has secured two landmark investments from Japanese technology giants, further strengthening the state's position as India’s hub for cutting-edge innovation and industrial growth. In high-level investment meetings held in Tokyo, NTT DATA and Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Private Limited (TTDI) signed strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Telangana to establish advanced facilities in Hyderabad and Rudraram, respectively.

NTT DATA, a global leader in IT services and digital transformation, in collaboration with AI-first cloud platform Neysa Networks, announced a Rs 10,500 crore investment to build an AI Data Center Cluster in Hyderabad. The state-of-the-art 400 MW facility will house 25,000 GPUs (Graphics Processing Units), making it the country’s most powerful AI compute infrastructure. The project aligns with Telangana’s vision of becoming India’s AI capital, supporting enterprise and public sector AI workloads with sovereign, scalable, and sustainable compute capabilities.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and senior leadership from NTT DATA and Neysa Networks. The center will also promote AI talent development in partnership with Telangana’s academic institutions and contribute to digital public infrastructure, while adhering to world-class ESG and sustainability standards.

In another major boost to Telangana’s industrial ecosystem, TTDI, a subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation, committed an investment of Rs 562 crore to expand its operations in the power sector.

TTDI will establish a new manufacturing unit for Surge Arresters and upgrade its existing Power & Distribution Transformers and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) facilities at its Rudraram campus.

This investment aims to address the growing domestic and global demand in the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) sector, with a focus on high-voltage, renewable-friendly equipment. TTDI’s expansion aligns with the ‘Make in India’ initiative and will drive employment, innovation, and skill development in the region.

Welcoming the announcements, Revanth Reddy emphasized Telangana’s strong policy framework, infrastructure readiness, skilled workforce, and investor-friendly governance model. “These investments by NTT DATA and Toshiba reaffirm Telangana’s leadership as a global hub for AI and power technology. Our focus is on building a future-ready digital and industrial ecosystem. On behalf of the people of Telangana – Arigatō Gozaimasu or in my Telugu language, Dhanayavadalu,” he said.
