Chief Minister Revanth Reddy launched a scathing attack on the BJP and its local leadership, accusing them of systematically neglecting the district despite holding power at the Centre and parliamentary representation for years. He squarely blamed BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind and the BJP’s state leadership for failing to secure basic development projects for Nizamabad, even after Prime Minister Narendra Modi served three terms and the BJP won the Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat twice.
Addressing a massive public meeting in Nizamabad, Revanth Reddy questioned why Nizamabad was denied Smart City status, an airport, and adequate central funds. “Do we need Modi’s permission even to clean drains in Nizamabad?” he asked, asserting that Dharmapuri Arvind’s influence in Delhi was negligible and limited to “Modi japa.” He said the BJP has no moral right to seek votes in municipal elections without delivering tangible development. He also criticised BJP state president Ramchander Rao and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, accusing them of shielding former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and former minister Harish Rao in the Kaleshwaram project issue, despite tall claims of action and CBI probes.
The Chief Minister reiterated that BJP and BRS were two sides of the same coin, bound by what he called a “fevicol bond,” and asserted that voting for either party yields the same result. He challenged BJP leaders to clarify when action would be taken against BRS leaders if their allegations were genuine.
Revanth Reddy highlighted the failures of the previous BRS and BJP regimes, stating that despite 12 years of Modi’s rule and 10 years of KCR’s governance, Nizamabad’s problems only worsened, turning the district into a “dumping yard of neglect.” In contrast, he said the Congress government had already sanctioned Rs 600 crore for educational institutions and Rs 1,045 crore for municipal development in the undivided Nizamabad district.
Later in his speech, the Chief Minister spoke with emotion about Nizamabad’s rich history, cultural legacy, and agricultural prominence. He recalled iconic figures like Dasarathi and praised the district’s farmers, whose struggles became a model for the entire nation. He said Nizamabad holds a special place in his heart, recalling his own role in farmer agitations as PCC president.
Revanth Reddy said Congress’s commitment to inclusive governance, citing BC caste census, SC sub-categorisation, minority representation, welfare schemes, and record job creation. He asserted that Congress would remain in power for the next eight years, bring an airport to Nizamabad, ensure the Congress flag flies over all municipalities, and transform Telangana into the number one state in the country.
Rs 1 Cr aid for constables Soumya and Pramod Kumar families
The Telangana Government has extended crucial financial assistance to the families of two police constables who lost their lives in the line of duty, displaying its commitment to stand by the families of personnel who make the ultimate sacrifice for public safety.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy personally handed over cheques worth Rs 1 crore each to the families of Excise Constable Gajula Soumya and Police Constable Pramod Kumar at Nizamabad.
Excise Constable Gajula Soumya recently lost her life while bravely performing her official duties. On January 23, in Nizamabad, she attempted to intercept a gang involved in illegal transportation of ganja. Displaying exceptional courage and dedication, she tried to stop the smugglers without regard for her own safety. During the operation, the smugglers deliberately rammed their vehicle into her, causing grievous injuries. Soumya was immediately shifted to Hyderabad for advanced treatment, where she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment. Her sacrifice has been widely acknowledged as an act of exemplary bravery in the service of the state.
In another case, Police Constable Pramod Kumar was fatally injured in October last year while on duty. He was attacked by miscreants and suffered a fatal knife injury, leading to his untimely death.
