The first edition of G. Narayanamma Institute of Technology and Science (GNITS), Research and Innovation day was inaugurated by Prof B S Murty, Director, IIT, Hyderabad on Saturday (February 22).
In his keynote address, B S Murty emphasized the importance of innovation and research in higher education and how the young generation can become future entrepreneurs and the importance of research centres and innovation parks in the campus and holistic growth of students in all fields and also the need to increase women participation in research.
As part of celebrations a national symposium on Future Horizons in Quantum Computing and Sustainable Innovations was conducted with keynote addresses and panel discussions by eminent personalities like Dr V Subrahmanyam, University of Hyderabad, Sasanka Valety, Principal Data Scientist, IBM, Thribhuvan D, CEO Mannkey Electronics, Prof Muralikrishna Iyyanki, Former Dr Raja Ramanna DRDO distinguished fellow, Dr Rajkiran V Bilolikar, Professor and Centre Director, Energy Studies, ASCI, Dr Mutyala Sarath, NIMSME, Venkat Kumar Tangirala, MD Wind Stream Technologies, Dr Shashwat Pathak CEO, AIC GNITS. More than 400 students, research scholars and faculty members across the engineering colleges of Hyderabad participated in the program.
The program concluded with a research award ceremony for faculty to acknowledge their contributions in Research and Innovation. G Srividya Reddy Vice-chairperson, Principal Dr K Ramesh Reddy, Dr M Seetha Dean of R&D, Dr N Kalyani Dean of I&I, congratulated the award winners. The coordinators Dr Swapna Raghunath, Dr B Sashidhar and Dr E Gouthami appreciated the participants for their interest and enthusiasm in making the event a grand success.
