Rare gastro disorders treated at Medicover Hitech City

Metro India News | Hyderabad : The Department of Medical Gastroenterology at Medicover Hospitals, Hitech City, has achieved two clinical milestones by successfully treating patients with complex gastrointestinal conditions through advanced endoscopic procedures performed by Dr. Arun Arora Pagadapelli, Consultant Medical Gastroenterologist. In the first case, a 40-year-old patient suffering from refractory gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) underwent POEM-F (Per-Oral Endoscopic Myotomy with Fundoplication). Following treatment, the patient became symptom-free, discontinued acid-suppressing medication and returned to normal daily activities.

In the second case, a 39-year-old patient with a rare neuroendocrine tumour at the D2-D3 junction of the duodenum underwent Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) with Loop and Clip Closure. The tumour was removed completely in one piece, and the defect was securely closed endoscopically. The patient experienced no reported complications and was discharged within 48 hours, preserving the duodenum and pancreas.

Dr. Arun Arora Pagadapelli mentioned that cases demonstrate the growing role of advanced therapeutic endoscopy in managing complex gastrointestinal conditions.
