Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made an emotional appeal to the people of Telangana to strengthen the Congress and support the mission of making Rahul Gandhi the next Prime Minister of India, declaring that the first step in this national mission should begin from Midjil. Addressing a massive Gratitude Meeting in Midjil to mark 20 years of his political journey, the Chief Minister said the country has a historic need for Rahul Gandhi's leadership and urged the people of Telangana to stand firmly behind him. He also called upon the people to express their gratitude to Sonia Gandhi for fulfilling the long standing aspiration of Telangana statehood. Seeking the support of the people, Revanth Reddy appealed to them to walk with him in this journey and ensure that Congress returns to power in Telangana while Rahul Gandhi becomes the Prime Minister of India.

Recalling his political beginnings, the Chief Minister said the people of Midjil had planted a sapling in 2006 by electing him as an Independent ZPTC candidate and that the same sapling had now grown into a mighty tree.

He described the Gratitude Meeting as a tribute to the faith and confidence reposed in him by the people two decades ago. He remembered the contributions of former Hyderabad State Chief Minister Burgula Ramakrishna Rao and former Union Minister Jaipal Reddy, stating that the region has a rich political legacy.

Revanth Reddy said the development of Midjil was now his responsibility and urged Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka to adopt the mandal and transform it into a model of development. He recalled that Midjil was once classified as a dark mandal and expressed confidence that it would now emerge as a developed region through focused government initiatives.

During the visit, the Chief Minister offered special prayers at the Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple in Urkonda and laid the foundation stone for temple development works worth Rs 10 crore. He also inaugurated the statues of Dr B R Ambedkar and former MLA Dyapa Gopal Reddy at Midjil before participating in the public meeting.

The Chief Minister launched development works worth Rs 47.08 crore in Midjil mandal, including Rs 20 crore for the development of village panchayats and over Rs 17 crore for the construction of check dams and restoration works aimed at strengthening irrigation and water conservation.

Highlighting the achievements of the Congress government, Revanth Reddy said the administration was simultaneously pursuing welfare, development and long term structural reforms. He cited the caste census, crop loan waiver, Rythu Bharosa, bonus for fine paddy, free bus travel for women, 200 units of free electricity, supply of fine rice to the poor, Indiramma housing and large scale procurement of paddy as examples of the government's commitment to farmers and weaker sections.

Launching a sharp attack on the previous BRS government, the Chief Minister questioned its record on employment, housing, irrigation and welfare while alleging that the state had been burdened with massive debt during its tenure. He said the people would not support a return to corruption and misgovernance.

Reiterating his commitment to Palamuru and Midjil, Revanth Reddy said he owed a lifelong debt to the people who had shaped his political career. He expressed confidence that Congress would continue to enjoy the people's support and called upon citizens to join him in building a stronger Telangana while contributing to a stronger India under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.

From ZPTC to Telangana Chief Minister

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday completed 20 years as an elected representative, marking a remarkable political journey from a grassroots leader to the state's highest elected office.

His electoral career began on July 4, 2006, when he was elected as ZPTC member from Midjil in the then Mahabubnagar district as an Independent candidate with the support of the TDP, BJP and Left parties. The victory laid the foundation for his political rise. A year later, he was elected to the Legislative Council as an Independent before joining the Telugu Desam Party.

Revanth Reddy went on to win the Kodangal Assembly seat in 2009 and again in 2014 on the TDP ticket. After serving as Working President of the TDP's Telangana unit, he joined the Congress in 2017. Though he suffered his only electoral defeat in the 2018 Assembly elections, he bounced back by winning the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat in 2019. Appointed Telangana Congress president in 2021, he led the party to a historic victory in the 2023 Assembly elections and took oath as Telangana's second Chief Minister on December 7, 2023.

Marking the milestone, Ministers Seethakka, Ponnam Prabhakar and Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, along with TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, congratulated Revanth Reddy, praising his perseverance, leadership and commitment to welfare and development. Mahesh Kumar Goud expressed confidence that Revanth Reddy would scale greater heights in public life.

In an emotional post on X, the Chief Minister described his 20 year public journey as a cherished chapter filled with victories, challenges and struggles for the people. Thanking supporters, party workers, friends and well wishers who stood by him throughout the journey, he pledged to continue serving as a dedicated architect of Telangana's reconstruction and to strengthen his bond with the people as "Revanthanna."
