Put nation first to build a self-reliant India: Governor

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla called upon students to place national interest above personal ambitions and embrace the spirit of "Nation First" to help build a developed and self-reliant India through discipline, service and value-based education.

Addressing the 86th Foundation Day celebrations of the Keshav Memorial Educational Society (KMES) at Narayanaguda on Monday, the Governor said education should not only impart knowledge but also nurture character, compassion, integrity and responsible citizenship. He attended the event as the chief guest and paid floral tributes to the statue of KMES founder Pandit Vinayak Rao Vidyalankar.

Shukla said KMES, inspired by the ideals of Justice Keshav Rao Koratkar, has upheld the values of education, patriotism and social responsibility for decades. He noted that the institution has grown into a reputed educational group, providing school, technical, management, law and higher education to over 16,000 students.

The Governor appreciated the Society's efforts to support economically weaker students through healthcare, skill development and community welfare programmes. He said initiatives such as the National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC), personality development and technical training help shape responsible citizens.

Expressing concern over rising drug abuse, Shukla urged students to support the vision of a drug-free Telangana under the "Nasha Mukt Bharat" campaign and become ambassadors of a healthy lifestyle. He also called upon teachers to nurture leadership, integrity and social responsibility while encouraging students to dream big, stay rooted in Indian values and contribute to nation-building.
