BJP Telangana state President N. Ramchander Rao said that the Bharatiya Janata Party was strongly condemning the harassment of Gau Rakshaks and voluntary Gau Sevaks by the city police in view of the upcoming Bakrid festival.

He alleged that Following Saturday’s incident at Attapur, it was deeply unfortunate that the police, acting under pressure from MIM party, were  filing false cases against Gau Rakshaks and volunteers. “Instead of maintaining law and order in a fair and balanced manner, the police appear to be targeting those, who are working to protect cow sentiments which is significant to Hindus. India is a country where every religion has the right to practice its faith with dignity. At the same time, the sentiments and beliefs of other communities must also be respected. Just as every religion’s traditions are important to its followers, the cow holds deep spiritual, cultural and emotional significance for the Hindus. It is unacceptable that the Gau Rakshaks and voluntary workers are being harassed and treated like criminals. The state government and police must ensure that no illegal activities take place and that the sentiments of Hindus are not hurt,” Rao said in a statement.

He said that his party was demanding  that the police immediately stop filing false cases against the  Gau Rakshaks and volunteers. He also  demanded that the police impartially, respect the sentiments of all communities and ensure that peace and harmony are maintained.

He made it clear that the The BJP would always stand firmly in support of the Gau Rakshaks, Gau Sevaks and the protection of Hindu sentiments.
