Pithapuram gets green makeover with urban forest and rejuvenated pond

Metro India News | PITHAPURAM : Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Forest and Environment Minister Pawan Kalyan on Monday inaugurated the Pithikapuram Vanam urban forest and a rejuvenated pond at Fakruddin Palem during his tour of Pithapuram constituency, highlighting the government’s focus on expanding green spaces and creating recreational and health facilities in urban and rural areas. The six-acre Pithikapuram Vanam was developed at a cost of about Rs 1.83 crore under the Centre’s Nagar Van Yojana.

The site, which was earlier a dumping yard, has now been converted into a landscaped green space for public use. Pawan Kalyan planted a sapling and unveiled the plaque marking the inauguration. A key attraction is the Nakshatra Vanam, featuring plants associated with the 27 nakshatras. The Shiva Panchayatana Vanam, comprising plants traditionally associated with Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, Lord Vishnu, Goddess Durga and the Sun God, is another feature.

He also inspected a photographic display showing the transformation of the former dumping yard and appreciated the officials involved. At Fakruddin Palem, Pawan Kalyan inaugurated the Rs 73-lakh development of Maisamma Cheruvu, which features a walking track, open-air gym, children’s park, and landscaping. Pawan Kalyan also inaugurated the children’s park along with local children and inspected the facilities.

He unveiled foundation plaques for 11 other ponds being developed in the Pithapuram constituency. Across Andhra Pradesh, 105 ponds are being beautified at a cost of Rs 50 crore with support under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana.
