Painter bludgeoned to death at Borabanda

A painter was brutally murdered by an acquaintance at Borabanda in the city on Sunday morning following a quarrel at a labour adda.

According to the police, the victim, Khaleel, a resident of Borabanda, had gone to the local labour adda in search of work. During the morning hours, he got into an argument with another labourer over an unspecified issue. Other workers present at the spot intervened and separated the two, temporarily pacifying the situation.

However, a few minutes later, Khaleel reportedly fell asleep on the pavement near the labour adda. Taking advantage of the situation, the suspect returned to the spot, picked up a large granite stone and repeatedly struck Khaleel on the head, killing him on the spot.

On receiving information, Borabanda police rushed to the scene and shifted the body to a mortuary for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and three special teams have been formed to identify and apprehend the accused.
