The NTR Memorial Trust has expanded its healthcare services in Andhra Pradesh with the launch of a modern blood bank and a dedicated Thalassaemia Care Centre in Vijayawada. Trust Managing Trustee Nara Bhuvaneswari inaugurated the newly constructed facility near Stella College on Friday, dedicating it to the people of the city. Bhuvaneswari paid floral tributes to the statue of former Chief Minister and Trust founder N.T. Rama Rao before inaugurating the centre.
Emphasizing the importance of voluntary blood donation, Nara Bhuvaneswari said donating blood was not merely an act of charity but a means of giving another person a chance at life. The new facility was established to support families facing medical emergencies and ensure that financial difficulties did not prevent needy patients from accessing blood, she said. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu congratulated the Trust team, describing the initiative as a significant humanitarian effort. He said no life should be endangered because blood was unavailable and highlighted the importance of free transfusions for children with thalassaemia.
Through the Sanjeevani mobile clinics and NTR Arogya Rath services, the Trust takes free medical consultations and medicines to remote rural and tribal areas across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Its NTR Sujala initiative provides safe drinking water through reverse osmosis plants in several locations. The Trust also supports women’s economic independence through training and marketing opportunities for products made by women, including through the Stree Shakti handicrafts store. Its educational initiatives seek to support underprivileged students, while its relief efforts have assisted people affected by floods, cyclones and the Covid-19 pandemic.
Calling on the public to participate in its service activities, Bhuvaneswari said the Trust belonged to everyone committed to helping others. The inauguration program was attended by Trust CEO Rajendra and COO Gopi. Bhuvaneswari also felicitated donors and individuals who had contributed to the organization’s activities.
