Metro India News | Hyderabad : In today’s world, NGOs play a crucial role in bridging the gap between government initiatives and grassroots needs. India, with its immense diversity and scale, presents unique challenges in implementing social welfare programs. AkshayaPatra Foundation's inception

Inspired by the vision of SrilaPrabhupada, Founder & Acharya of the Worldwide Hare Krishna Movement, a world where nobody goes hungry, the initiative was started in 2000 by feeding 1,500 children in Bengaluru. Over time, we have scaled up; now we serve 2.35 million children in 16 states and 3 UTs, continuing to scale its footprint to end school-age hunger across India.

Use of advanced technology in the kitchens

AkshayaPatra’s semi-automated kitchens can prepare up to 100,000 meals daily while ensuring hygiene and consistency. Automated recipe adherence maintains taste and nutrition, while ERP systems optimize inventory, logistics and costing. GPS tracking and route optimisation further enhance timely delivery.

5 Billion Meal Milestone Celebrations at RashtrapatiBhavan

On March 17, 2026, our journey reached an even grander historic landmark—5 billion cumulative meals served under PM POSHAN, coinciding with 25 years of service to society.  This achievement was commemorated at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi, hosted in the presence of the President of India, DroupadiMurmu, and Union   Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
