NDA emerges victorious in Puducherry

In the 2026 Puducherry Legislative Assembly elections, the NDA led by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy’s All India N.R. Congress (AINRC) securing a clear majority of 18 seats in the 30-member assembly. AINRC secured 12 seats, BJP 4, AIADMK 1 and Latchiya Jananayaka Katchi (LJK) 1 seat. 

The opposition Secular Progressive Alliance (Congress + DMK + others) managed to secure 6 seats. 

   Debutant Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founded by actor Vijay and independents won three seats each. 

     A record voter turnout of over 89–91% was recorded, the highest in recent years. Incumbent Chief Minister N. Rangasamy comfortably retained his Thattanchavady seat by a margin of 4,441 votes. 

     Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the verdict, describing it as a strong endorsement of the NDA’s governance and further strengthening the alliance’s footprint in South India.
