The Paari School of Business (PSB) at SRM University-AP organized a symposium titled “Advancing Management Knowledge in the AI Era: Research Frontiers and Future,” under the theme “Reimagining Management through AI,” bringing together leading academics and researchers to examine how artificial intelligence is reshaping management education, organizational strategy and global business practices.

The symposium provided a platform to explore emerging research opportunities at the intersection of artificial intelligence, economic models and organisational transformation. Discussions focused on the need to rethink conventional management approaches, strengthen research capabilities and prepare academic institutions for a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Soumitra Dutta, Advisor to the SRM Group, examined the relationship between engineering advancements and modern digital ecosystems. He emphasised that the exponential pace of AI development requires universities to move beyond incremental reforms and embrace continuous learning, experimentation and innovation. Highlighting the concentration of computing infrastructure in a handful of wealthy economies, he stressed the need for developing countries such as India to strengthen their technological capabilities and research networks to participate more effectively in global innovation.

During a fireside chat on “Human Capital, Leadership, and Organisational Transformation in the AI Era,” Prof. Allan Bird of the Goa Institute of Management and Prof. Michael Stevens of Weber State University examined globalization through three dimensions—ease of communication, systemic interdependence and operational complexity—and highlighted the importance of human judgement and cognitive engagement. Prof. Ashay Kadam, Dean of the Paari School of Business, outlined the school’s efforts to integrate AI into its curriculum and departmental workflows. Prof. Ranjit Thapa, Dean-Research at SRM University-AP, highlighted the importance of adapting to intelligent technological environments to strengthen the university’s global research standing.

In the concluding session, Prof. Elizabeth L. Rose, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Senior Professor at the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, Hyderabad called for transparency, careful oversight and clear disclosure of AI usage to protect academic integrity and research credibility. She also highlighted the symposium’s role in encouraging meaningful exchanges among students, research scholars, early-career faculty and experienced academics. The symposium will be followed by a five-day Early Career Researchers’ Publishing Boot Camp, led by Prof. Allan Bird and Prof. Elizabeth L. Rose.
