A helicopter manufacturing plant worth Rs 4,250 crore will be established in Nanded in Maharashtra’s Marathwada region, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Chavan announced on Thursday. The project is expected to create around 1,800 to 2,000 direct employment opportunities while also generating several indirect jobs in the region.

According to Chavan, the facility will include helicopter manufacturing, assembly units and spare parts production. The plant will be developed through an agreement between the Maharashtra government and Retavia Private Limited.

The proposed unit will also offer engineering services along with maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities for helicopters. These services are expected to strengthen the aerospace ecosystem in the region and support aviation-related industries.

Chavan said that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had already announced the project in the state assembly. The initiative is expected to boost industrial development in Marathwada and attract further investments in advanced manufacturing.

He added that the helicopter manufacturing plant aligns with the Centre’s flagship initiatives such as Make in India and Viksit Bharat promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
