Urban MLA Dhanpal Suryanarayana has appealed to organizers of Ganesh pandals and the youth to conduct the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations with devotion, discipline and in accordance with Hindu traditions.
Under the aegis of the Sri Dhanpal Lakshmi Bai Vitthal Gupta Charitable Trust, cheques were distributed to Ganesh festival organizers at the trust office in Marwadi Galli on Friday. The MLA recalled that assistance was provided to 725 Ganesh pandals last year and assured that the trust would extend support to those who approached it this year as well, with the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
Dhanpal Suryanarayana said Lord Ganesha was not merely associated with a single festival but was a symbol of culture, Sanatana Dharma and social unity. Recalling the history of public Ganesh celebrations, he said that Bal Gangadhar Tilak played an important role in encouraging community celebrations. He also said that the distribution of assistance would continue on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.
