A 69-year-old woman from Hyderabad, Roda Bhai, who was suffering from severe abdominal discomfort and pressure caused by a massive ovarian cyst, was successfully treated at Medicover Hospitals, Secunderabad. The case was particularly challenging as the patient was also suffering from severe heart disease, making both the surgery and administration of anesthesia highly risky. Despite these complexities, a multidisciplinary team of specialists at Medicover Hospitals carefully planned and successfully performed the surgery to remove the large ovarian cyst.
The complex surgery was led by Dr. Madhavi Dokku, Consultant Gynecologist. Dr. Pramod Kumar Kuchulakanti, Consultant Cardiologist, closely monitored the patient’s cardiac condition, while Dr. Srinivas, Consultant Anesthesiologist, managed the anesthesia and perioperative care. Through close collaboration among the Gynecology, Cardiology and Anesthesiology departments, the team successfully minimized cardiac risks and completed the surgery safely.
Speaking about the case, Dr. Madhavi Dokku mentioned that in this case, the presence of severe heart disease significantly increased the risk. “Our primary focus was to safely remove the cyst while ensuring the patient’s cardiac condition remained stable throughout the surgery”, she said.
