Dr. Sharath Chandra Kaushik, Consultant – General, Laparoscopic, Bariatric & Minimally Invasive Surgery at Medicover Hospitals, Hitec City, has completed 100 robotic-assisted general surgeries over the past year. The procedures spanned inguinal hernia repairs (35), gallbladder surgeries (25), complex abdominal wall reconstructions (20), bariatric surgeries (10) and gastrointestinal procedures (10). Around half were classified as complex cases, including the abdominal wall reconstructions and bariatric procedures. Of the 100 procedures, 96 were completed robotically as planned.

Dr. Sharath Chandra Kaushik mentioned that for suitable patients, robotic-assisted surgery can offer smaller incisions, reduced post-operative pain and a shorter recovery.  Dr. Kaushik credited the milestone to close teamwork across anaesthesiology, robotic OT specialists, nursing staff, surgical assistants and technicians, whose coordination underpins patient safety in every procedure.
