Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) MD Ashok Reddy recently inspected ongoing sewer pipeline expansion works in old Mallepally ward, covering the Biotech main road area, to address long-standing sewer overflow issues. He was accompanied by JND official Mayank Mittal and other senior officers.
The inspection covered pipeline construction from Senior Café Hotel to RK Pan Shop, part of efforts to ensure smooth sewer flow and prevent further overflow affecting local residents. During the visit, MD Ashok Reddy instructed officials to install de-watering pumps immediately between manholes, ensuring continuous flow without inconveniencing the public.
He emphasized that once pipeline expansion is completed, road restoration should be initiated promptly and construction debris removed regularly. Officials were also directed to maintain high quality in manhole construction, including proper plastering inside manholes for durability and functionality.
The inspection included Hyderabad Region ED Samrat Ashok, Operations Director Vinod Bhargava, CGM Prabhu, GM, DGM, and other officials, who reviewed progress and compliance with quality standards. The move is part of broader efforts by HMWSSB to upgrade aging sewer infrastructure and reduce long-term overflow problems, improving sanitation and public health in the area.
With works underway, authorities aim to complete pipeline expansion quickly while minimizing disruption, ensuring streets are restored promptly, and maintaining efficient drainage systems for Mallepally residents.
