Malla Reddy’s ‘Flight Restaurant’ looks for clearance to serve spirits

If there’s one thing Malla Reddy has taught Telangana over the years, it’s that the journey from selling milk and flowers to running empires. On Monday, the ever-unpredictable former minister and BRS MLA made what was officially described as a ‘courtesy visit’ to Telangana's Excise, Prohibition & Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao at the State Assembly. But courtesy, as it turns out, came with a business proposal tucked neatly in its back pocket.

Malla Reddy, never one to think small (after all, when you’ve gone from milk cans to mega campuses, why stop there?), is now aiming for the skies—literally. His latest venture, a ‘Flight Restaurant’, already sounds like something that could either serve food or take off at any moment. And to ensure the experience is truly… uplifting, he requested permission to add a bar.

Because what’s a grounded aircraft without a little turbulence in a glass?

Minister Jupally, playing the role of the calm air traffic controller, responded with bureaucratic grace. “Apply under the Elite Bar category, pay the fees, upload the documents,” he advised—essentially reminding Malla Reddy that even high-flying ideas must land on the runway of government procedure.

No shortcuts,

no mid-air approvals.

The meeting, while perfectly routine on paper, has raised a few eyebrows in political circles—especially with recent inspections hovering over Malla Reddy’s educational and business ventures like watchful drones. But for now, there’s no green signal, no red flag—just a pending application waiting to taxi through the Excise Department’s checklist.

As always, with Malla Reddy, the script is equal parts ambition, comedy, and suspense. From milk and flowers to flight-themed fine dining, one thing is certain: the man may not know all the full forms, but he certainly knows how to keep the story interesting.
