As part of the Metro Rail expansion, acquisition of affected properties on the 7.5-kilometer stretch from MG Bus Station (MGBS) to Chandrayangutta is progressing rapidly, stated Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited MD, NVS Reddy.
He mentioned that land acquisition and demolition of affected properties are being carried out extensively with the full cooperation of local residents. Out of a total of 1,100 affected properties on this stretch, compensation has already been distributed for 205 properties, amounting to Rs. 212 crores, he revealed.
Reddy explained that some highly entangled electric, telephone and other cables on both sides of the route, which were acting as bottlenecks, were being carefully removed by engineering teams to facilitate demolition of affected properties in a safe manner. He added that the expansion works are being actively carried out under the supervision of Metro rail engineers along with Revenue and Police wings of HAML.
He appreciated the affected property owners for voluntarily coming forward, accepting the compensation offered by the government, and handing over their properties for the Metro project. Several buildings and structures have already been demolished, and the debris cleared for road expansion, he said.
All necessary precautions are being taken to ensure that sensitive structures nearby are not affected in any way, NVS Reddy emphasized. Though the pace of work slowed down slightly during the Ramzan month, it has now picked up momentum again. Metro construction will begin as soon as approval from the Central Government is received.
