BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday welcomed the initiation of the delimitation process while cautioning against adopting a population-based approach that could disadvantage southern states. He stated that delimitation, originally due in 2014 under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, is long overdue and its commencement is a positive step.
However, he emphasized that any exercise based purely on population would severely impact southern India’s parliamentary representation. Instead, he advocated continuing the earlier approach based on the 1971 population ratios to ensure fairness and protect the interests of southern states.
KTR noted that southern states currently account for about 24 percent of parliamentary representation and stressed that this share must not be diluted. He also welcomed the proposal to increase Assembly seats in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, stating that it would enhance governance and bring elected representatives closer to the people. Highlighting disparities in constituency sizes, he pointed out that such imbalances weaken democratic principles and must be corrected through delimitation.
Turning to the Formula E race issue, KTR alleged that the state government was attempting to divert public attention from the BRS demand to grant legal status to the Six Guarantees.
He dismissed the case as baseless, asserting that funds transferred for the event remain clarified and no misappropriation has occurred. He claimed the event brought significant economic benefits to Telangana, citing estimates of nearly Rs 700 crore in gains. He further accused the government of exaggerating figures to mislead the public and maintained that the case would not stand legal scrutiny.
KTR also accused the government of financial mismanagement, alleging wastage of public funds on events such as a football match and irregularities involving Singareni funds. He questioned the lack of action in these cases while targeting the Formula E issue, terming it politically motivated.
On the Musi River development project, KTR criticized the Congress government for lacking a clear plan and financial backing. He stated that even basic requirements like a Detailed Project Report are missing and urged the government to engage directly with affected residents instead of holding closed-door discussions.
“The state government has neither funds nor a concrete plan for the Musi project. They are merely relying on expected funding from the Asian Development Bank, which has not materialised so far. Even the required Detailed Project Report (DPR) is not ready,” he said.
He highlighted that BRS has already presented its comprehensive vision for the Musi project during a public presentation held recently. “We have clearly outlined our party’s position and approach. If needed, we are ready to present the same again—even to the ministers,” he added.
Raising concerns over Transferable Development Rights, KTR alleged a major scam involving the Chief Minister’s associates. He claimed that policy changes are being used to benefit select groups and promised a comprehensive probe if BRS returns to power. This is definitely a major scandal. Once our government returns to power, we will conduct a comprehensive investigation into this TDR scam.
We will certainly expose the role of Revanth Reddy’s family members and relatives who are buying TDRs from displaced persons for a pittance and selling them at exorbitant prices. Since every detail—who sold, who is buying, and who is reselling to whom—will be tracked in this TDR process, everyone involved in this scam will surely face consequences in the coming days.
Under Revanth Reddy’s rule, TDR has now turned into 'Tirupathi Reddy Development Rights.' We are aware of every aspect—into whose hands these TDRs are changing, how they are changing, and why. Revanth Reddy has turned this TDR into an ATM for his family. We will soon hold a press conference to fully expose this TDR scam."
