Roads & Buildings, Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Monday called upon the newly elected corporators of the Nalgonda Municipal Corporation to function with integrity and commitment so as to leave a lasting imprint on the city’s history. Participating in the Mayor and Deputy Mayor election and oath-taking ceremony at the Corporation meeting hall, the Minister said public representatives must uphold the trust reposed in them, remembering that positions are temporary but reputation earned through service endures.

Emphasizing social justice, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the Deputy Mayor’s post was given to a minority representative as part of the government’s inclusive approach. “Urban development is in your hands. If all corporators work unitedly, Nalgonda can achieve faster progress,” he remarked, urging them not to compromise on welfare measures for the poor.

Listing out welfare initiatives, Komatireddy said the State government is issuing ration cards and supplying six kilograms of fine rice to beneficiaries. He noted that Rs 5,000 crore has been paid to power utilities towards free electricity up to 200 units. The Minister also stated that a laparoscopic machine was provided to the Government General Hospital in Nalgonda from his personal funds and that the new building of Manyam Chelka Government Hospital is nearing completion.

He further said that if corporators function cohesively, he would facilitate the release of Rs 100 crore through the Chief Minister for the Corporation’s development works. Earlier, Burri Chaitanya Reddy was unanimously elected as Mayor and Ashraf Ali Mohammed as Deputy Mayor. The election process was conducted under the supervision of Special Officer Shravan.
