KIMS Nursing College organised an anti-drug awareness programme at Wesley Degree College, Paradise, on Saturday under the Central Government's Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, urging students to stay away from substance abuse and lead healthy lives.

Addressing the programme, KIMS Nursing College Principal Prof. Reddy Rani said drug and alcohol addiction was becoming a growing concern among youth due to peer pressure and the influence of social media. She said substance abuse damages physical and mental health, disrupts families and affects society, urging parents to guide children with strong values from an early age.

Ramgopalpet Police Station Sub-Inspector Bharathi, the chief guest, advised students to avoid drugs and unlawful activities. She highlighted the police's efforts to combat drug abuse and said the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan promotes awareness, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and community participation.

Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Chowdary spoke on mental health and counselling. Quiz, poster presentation and awareness competitions were held for students, with winners receiving prizes at the end of the programme.
