Geethika Shruthi, who travels in autos regularly, feels safer by using T-Safe (Travel-Safe) mobile application and she says that she gets a call from the police department from time to time during the trip until the end of the trip. Like her, many women downloaded the T-Safe mobile application to travel safely in auto, bike and cab during night time.
T-Safe is the first of its kind ride-monitoring service in India. The service is an initiative of the Women’s Safety Wing of Telangana police through which solo women travellers can request the police to monitor their real-time ride information at any given time. Now, this application is getting good response from the people of the state.
Solo travelers can first dial 100 and choose option 8 to register the trip, download the T-Safe app from Play store or visit Women Safety Wing website https://tsafe.tspolice.gov.in/wap
After a traveler registers for the service, they will be asked to choose their destination, type of vehicle and number of the vehicle. They can then raise a request to monitor their travel route. Upon commencement of the service, the user will get automated alerts on the app or via calls at a regular interval of 15 minutes. The traveler will also be given a secret passcode, which they will have to update during these alerts, failing which, the app will initiate a prompt police response.
Similarly, if the travel route of the traveler starts deviating from the destination or leaves the boundaries of the state, the user will get an alert call to check on their safety.
The present fleet strength of emergency response vehicles includes 791 patrol cars and 1,085 blue colts as well as a separate T-Safe desk. T-Safe will soon be integrated with other applications of cab aggregators, said police. While availing of the service on the app, you can also share live location links with your friends and family.
Speaking to Metro India, Dara Kavitha, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cybercrimes and Women’s Safety Wing, said “Presently T-Safe application can be used by android mobile phone users and on Apple phones you cannot use that. We have not yet started that. Travelers can request ride monitoring by dialing 100 and choosing 8 in option in the IVR option. After doing that the traveler will get an automated link to fill in their travel details so that the police can monitor their journey.”
“After that every 15 minutes travelers will get a call from the Police to check their safety. If travelers are not responding to the call, automated calls will be made and their location will be tracked and sent to the nearby Police Patrol Vehicle and help will arrive at the earliest,” DCP said.
