The Telangana Transport department has made it mandatory that all vehicles that were registered before April 1, 2019 in the State must fit High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) by the end of September. It covers two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and commercial vehicles across the state. The transport department has issued a final warning: from October 1, 2025, vehicles without HSRPs will not only be fined but will also be denied Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates.
Fines or penalties will be imposed on violators. Starting October 1, 2025, these enforcement actions will be strictly implemented. HSRPs are tamper-proof number plates introduced to improve vehicle security, aid in tracking, and enforce uniformity in registration plates nationwide. The initiative is part of a broader effort to prevent vehicle theft and streamline the vehicle registration system.
To comply, vehicle owners must book an appointment through the official HSRP portal and ensure the plates are affixed by the deadline. The department revealed that 40,000 to 50,000 HSRP plates are still unclaimed at RTA offices in Hyderabad due to prior non-compliance.
