The “Vijaya” brand should not be used in a manner that creates confusion among consumers or affects Telangana’s cooperative dairy network
Telangana Dairy Development Federation Chairman Gutha Amith Reddy strongly criticized the alleged unethical practices of the Andhra Pradesh dairy in using the “Vijaya” brand, stating that Telangana would continue to question such actions if they undermine cooperative principles and farmers’ interests.
He said the use of the Vijaya brand without directly procuring milk from dairy farmers and in violation of cooperative norms was unacceptable. According to him, the practice of packing milk and ghee through private dairies and marketing them in Hyderabad without clearly mentioning the address or origin was creating confusion among consumers.
Amit Reddy described it as surprising that the AP dairy authorities had raised objections even after Telangana Dairy had presented evidence regarding the issue. He emphasized that Telangana Dairy would continue to expose policies and practices that harm the cooperative spirit and negatively affect dairy farmers in the state.
He clarified that Telangana Dairy has no objection if anyone sells dairy products under any other brand name anywhere. However, he insisted that the “Vijaya” brand should not be used in a manner that creates confusion among consumers or affects Telangana’s cooperative dairy network.
On Monday, Andhra Pradesh Vijaya Dairy strongly rebutted allegations of selling adulterated ghee leveled by Telangana Dairy Development Federation, asserting that such claims are aimed at obstructing their products' entry into the neighboring state market. Officials emphasized that they have never compromised on quality, with no single complaint registered till date despite rigorous ongoing tests.
In a pointed response, AP Dairy clarified that Meghana Foods, which markets their products, adheres strictly to standards. "We can sell anywhere without fear, as our ghee is pure and tested," a senior official stated, dismissing the accusations as baseless attempts to create barriers. Recent samples have been dispatched for independent verification, promising to share results transparently with Telangana authorities if any irregularity surfaces.
