Madhish Parikh, a youth leader from Gujarat, proposed the establishment of a Russian Culture Centre in the state during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
The meeting took place at the “We Are Together” International Volunteer Forum, where Parikh was the only Indian participant to meet the Russian President. During the interaction, Parikh said he has been advocating with the Russian House in India to set up the proposed centre in Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the centre would promote cultural exchange, educational collaboration, and people-to-people ties between the two nations.
The meeting comes ahead of President Putin’s scheduled official visit to India. According to Parikh, Putin said he would personally brief Prime Minister Modi about their discussion.
Parikh, Founding Director of the BRICS Youth Alliance and Elixir Foundation, introduced himself as being from Modi’s home state and highlighted his earlier visit to Russia as a recipient of the International Prize “We Are Together” for humanitarian work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
