The Governor of Telangana, Jishnu Dev Varma praised Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant traditions and diverse natural beauty. The Governor attended the Odisha Foundation Day celebrations as the Chief Guest at Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor highlighted the state’s renowned temples, calling Odisha the ‘Temple State of India.’
The Governor noted the deep historical and cultural connections between Odisha and Telangana. He spoke about the four spiritual pillars of our gratis nation: Badrinath, West, Dwaraka, South, Rameswaram and East Puri Jagannath. He also recalled the influence of the Vijayanagara Empire in Odisha, which fostered cultural exchanges between the two regions. The shared artistic traditions of Odissi and Kuchipudi dance forms continue to reflect this bond.
Jishnu Dev Varma commended the Government of India’s Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat initiative, which aims to strengthen cultural ties across the country. He expressed hope that such programs will promote national integration and unity. The event was attended by M Dana Kishore, Principal Secretary to the Governor, along with G Pallavi Deputy Secretary to Governor and other officers and staff of Raj Bhavan. Members of Odisha’s community in Hyderabad also participated enthusiastically in the celebrations.
