Godrej Agrovet’s Hitweed Maxx Helps Control Weed Management

July, 2026: As cotton sowing progresses across Telangana, farmers are navigating increasing weather uncertainty. With forecasts indicating the possibility of El Niño-related weather variability, experts anticipate greater rainfall fluctuations, prolonged dry spells and uneven moisture availability during the crucial crop-establishment phase. Such conditions can intensify weed pressure with both grass and broad leaf weeds, often emerging rapidly after intermittent rainfall and competing aggressively with young cotton plants for moisture, nutrients, sunlight and space. According to Godrej Agrovet’s farmer study, nearly half of surveyed cotton farmers consider weed management difficult, highlighting the scale of the challenge and the importance of timely weed control during the crop’s early growth stages.

Hitweed Maxx, Godrej Agrovet’s post-emergence selective herbicide for cotton, effectively controls both grassy and broadleaf weeds. Applied at the 2–3 leaf stage at the recommended dosage of 70 ml per pump, it reduces crop-weed competition during the crop’s most vulnerable growth phase and provides up to 25–30 days of effective weed control. By helping maintain a cleaner field during early crop establishment, Hitweed Maxx supports stronger crop growth and helps protect yield potential. Godrej Agrovet recently announced a cashback offer on Hitweed Max, combining proven product performance with a direct farmer incentive to drive timely adoption of best-in-class weed management practices reflecting the company's commitment to improving farmer productivity and profitability.

Commenting on the importance of timely weed management, Rajavelu N.K., CEO – Crop Care Business, Godrej Agrovet, said: "Telangana contributes nearly one-sixth of India’s cotton production and plays a critical role in the country’s cotton economy. This season, delayed rainfall and the possibility of El Niño-related weather variability have increased the importance of scientific weed management. Under such conditions, weeds compete aggressively for moisture and nutrients, making timely intervention essential. At Godrej Agrovet, we remain committed to delivering farmer-centric crop protection solutions that help improve productivity and build resilience against increasingly unpredictable growing conditions."

With climate variability emerging as a major challenge for cotton cultivation, Godrej Agrovet continues to promote science-led weed management practices that help farmers improve productivity, profitability and resilience against increasingly unpredictable weather conditions.
