The controversy surrounding political analyst K. Nageshwar and his comments on Jana Sena Party chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has intensified further, with senior BRS leader and former Telangana minister T. Harish Rao questioning the Andhra Pradesh government over the continuation of police cases against the professor.

The issue began after Prof. Nageshwar allegedly claimed during a discussion that Pawan Kalyan had requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to arrest YSRCP president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, and that Amit Shah had advised him to maintain friendly relations with Jagan, describing him as a long-time friend. The remarks triggered a major political controversy in both Telugu states.

Jana Sena leaders and party supporters strongly objected to the comments, accusing the professor of spreading false information and acting in favour of the YSR Congress Party. Large-scale criticism was directed at him on social media, while complaints were reportedly lodged at several police stations in Andhra Pradesh, leading to criminal cases being registered.

Amid mounting pressure, Prof. Nageshwar later issued an unconditional statement withdrawing his remarks. However, the continuation of police action despite the retraction has now sparked a fresh political debate.

Reacting to the development, Harish Rao posted on X criticising the Andhra Pradesh government’s approach. He said continuing cases against the professor even after he had unconditionally withdrawn his statements reflected a vindictive attitude.
