Former DGP and National Coordinator of AIBSP Dr. J. Purnachandra Rao participated in two significant programs held in Hyderabad on Sunday, highlighting the importance of social justice, caste census and Bahujan political empowerment. At one program, he released the book “Caste Census and Deepening of Social Justice.” Students from the University of Hyderabad, Osmania University and Nizam College participated in large numbers.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Purnachandra Rao said that although India has not conducted a comprehensive caste census since 1931, caste continues to influence access to education, employment, and political power. He described this as a serious contradiction, stating that “we are trying to address inequality without measuring it.”  He clarified that a caste census is not divisive but a democratic necessity for recognition, accountability, and evidence-based policymaking. He stressed that enumeration must be followed by policy reforms, equitable distribution of political positions, and genuine representation.

Earlier, Dr. Rao addressed a meeting of Kummari intellectuals held at Hotel Taj Krishna. He emphasized the need for unity among marginalized communities and called upon the Kummari community to join hands with BC, SC, ST, and minority groups to strengthen Bahujan politics. He further stated that social justice cannot be achieved by waiting for others to grant it, but must be secured through collective effort.

Both programs witnessed enthusiastic participation from intellectuals, students, activists and community leaders, reflecting growing awareness and engagement on issues of representation and social justice.
