Five mines of The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) have secured the prestigious 5-Star Rating under the Ministry of Coal's National Coal Mine Rating Programme for 2024-25, marking the company's best-ever performance.

The five award-winning mines are RK Newtech and RK-6 in the Srirampur area, JVR OC-II in Sathupalli, Khairiguda Open Cast in Bellampalli and RG OC-I in Ramagundam-III.

Of the 382 coal mines that applied nationwide, only 50 were awarded the 5-Star Rating, with SCCL accounting for five of them. Last year, four Singareni mines received the honour.

Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Bhatti Vikramarka congratulated the officers, employees and workers of the winning mines and urged other SCCL mines to adopt similar best practices.

The annual rating programme, conducted by the Coal Controller Organisation under the Ministry of Coal, evaluates mines on 50 performance parameters across seven categories, including scientific mining, technology adoption, safety, employee welfare, environmental management, financial performance and community development. Mines scoring over 90 percent qualify for the 5-Star Rating.

In addition to the five top-rated mines, 17 other SCCL mines earned the 4-Star Rating by scoring between 80 and 90 percent, reflecting consistently high operational standards.
