Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to prepare all necessary arrangements to lay the foundation stone for the construction of the new Osmania Hospital, which will feature state-of-the-art facilities, by the end of January.

On Saturday, the Chief Minister conducted a review regarding the hospital's construction with senior officials at his residence. During the meeting, he inquired about the availability of land at Goshamahal and directed that the site currently under the jurisdiction of the Police department be transferred to the Medical and Health department as soon as possible. Officials from both departments have been tasked with expediting the land transfer process and addressing other related matters promptly.

The authorities provided the Chief Minister with an overview of the new hospital's design and presented sample blueprints. Revanth Reddy recommended a number of modifications and additions to the hospital designs proposed by the officials. He expressed his desire for the hospital to be built with a comprehensive array of modern amenities.

The officials have been instructed to finalise the hospital designs while considering future requirements, particularly in relation to the development of the road network, parking facilities, mortuary services, and other essential infrastructure within the hospital grounds.

The Chief Minister underscored the importance of preparing designs with a long-term perspective to prevent complications during future road expansions and flyover constructions.

In addition to state-of-the-art facilities, he proposed the development of parks and green spaces to provide a relaxing environment for visitors and patients within the hospital premises.

The plans should be designed to establish the hospital with advanced facilities comparable to those found in corporate hospitals. Furthermore, measures should be implemented to lay the foundation stone for the hospital's construction by the end of January month, the Chief Minister said.

‘No bowing down to pressure from Liquor manufacturers’

The Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has firmly stated that the State government will not yield to pressure from liquor manufacturers regarding price hikes. Addressing concerns raised by the Excise Department about United Breweries company’s recent demand for a 33.1% increase in beer prices on its Kingfisher and Heineken brands, the CM emphasized that any decision on price revisions would be made transparently and in the public’s interest.

The Chief Minister, during a review meeting on the Excise department on Saturday, pointed out that beer prices will be reviewed based on a report from the Price Fixation Committee, chaired by a retired High Court judge. He urged officials to compare beer prices in neighboring states like Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra to ensure fairness and competitiveness.

Further, Revanth directed officials to adopt a fair and transparent mechanism for selecting companies to supply liquor to the Telangana State Beverages Corporation Limited (TGBCL). He instructed the Excise Department to issue a notification within a month, inviting applications from new suppliers. Companies must apply with their brand names, and the selection process will prioritize quality standards and supply capacity.

The Chief Minister assured that pending dues owed to the Excise Department from the previous administration have been systematically cleared over the past year. He directed the Finance Department to continue addressing these payments without delay.

The Telangana government remains committed to maintaining transparency in the liquor trade while protecting the interests of the public and ensuring fairness in the sector, CM stressed. The review meeting was attended by Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Prohibition & Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari and other senior officials.
