Former Devarakadra MLA Ala Venkateshwar Reddy demanded that the Congress government release a white paper on the promises made to Scheduled Tribes (STs) and their implementation. Speaking at Bhoothpur mandal headquarters on Monday, he mentioned that the previous BRS government under CM K Chandrashekar Rao increased ST reservations from 6 per cent to 10 per cent and fulfilled the long-pending demand to convert tribal hamlets into gram panchayats. He said more than 4,000 thandas were made gram panchayats thereby fulfilling the slogan of “Our Thanda, Our Rule.”
The Ex-MLA said the party would organize rallies in thandas across Devarakadra constituency on September 17, perform a milk abhishekam to KCR’s portrait and highlight the welfare measures taken for tribals during the KCR government. He also alleged that Rs 12 crore had been sanctioned during their tenure for roads in the thandas under Bhoothpur Municipality, but the works were being inaugurated only after three years. Farmers were facing problems due to power shortages he alleged and criticized the government for failing to lift water from Srisailam project.
