Education department brings Aadhaar services to schools

In a student-friendly initiative, the government has launched free Aadhaar enrolment and update services in both government and private schools across Mahabubabad district. The programme, being implemented with the support of the district education department, aims to ensure that students have updated Aadhaar details without visiting enrolment centres.

The initiative is being carried out in coordination with Batronix, with trained teams visiting schools to complete Aadhaar enrolment and biometric updates. Many students who obtained Aadhaar cards at a young age are now facing authentication issues because their fingerprints and iris details no longer match the records. Updated biometric information has become essential for availing scholarships, securing admissions, and accessing various government welfare schemes.

To speed up the process, 45 Aadhaar kits have been deployed across all mandals in the district. Specially trained personnel visit schools according to a pre-planned schedule and capture students' photographs, fingerprints, and iris scans before updating their Aadhaar records. Each team is providing services to around 20 to 30 students every day.

Education department officials said the initiative has been widely encouraged to ensure that every eligible student completes the Aadhaar update process on time. By bringing the services directly to schools, students and parents no longer need to visit MeeSeva centres, saving both time and travel expenses.

Officials said the school-based Aadhaar service has made the process more accessible and convenient, while helping students avoid delays in receiving scholarships and other government benefits linked to Aadhaar authentication. The programme is expected to benefit thousands of students across the district.
