Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated its foundation day with enthusiasm at the party’s state office in Hyderabad on Monday. Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao hoisted the party flag and extended greetings to party workers, members, and the people of Telangana on the occasion. The event witnessed the participation of senior leaders, including former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, national leader P. Muralidhar Rao, Legislative Council floor leader A.V.N. Reddy, MLC Malka Komuraiah, and state general secretary (organisation) Chandrashekhar Tiwari, along with a large number of party workers.

Addressing the gathering, Ramchander Rao said the BJP has emerged as the world’s largest political force due to the selfless sacrifices and dedication of crores of party workers. He stated that the foundation day is not just a celebration, but a moment to reaffirm commitment to the ideology of “nation first.” He noted that the party, which began as a movement driven by ordinary workers with national interest as its core, has grown steadily over the decades.

He recalled the contributions of leaders like Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Deendayal Upadhyaya, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whose vision laid the foundation for the party’s growth. He urged party workers in Telangana to act as the voice of the people and work towards safeguarding democracy in the state.

Ramchander Rao expressed confidence that the BJP would come to power in Telangana in the coming years. He highlighted that the party has a membership base of over 40 lakh in the state and emphasized the need for unity among leaders and workers. He also advised party members to refrain from making internal issues public on social media and instead resolve them internally.

Highlighting the achievements of the central government under Narendra Modi, he said India has strengthened its global standing, including supplying COVID-19 vaccines to several countries and lifting many people above the poverty line. He called for the establishment of a “double engine government” in Telangana, stating that coordinated efforts between the Centre and the state are essential for faster development.

Former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, speaking at the event, extended his greetings and said the BJP is currently in power in 19 states, which reflects the growing trust of people in the party. He emphasized that the BJP is not a party driven by positions, but one rooted in values and service to the nation.

Recalling past political developments, Dattatreya referred to the period of the The Emergency (India) imposed by Indira Gandhi, stating that democracy was undermined during that time.
