Deepak Gupta becomes GAIL Chairman

Deepak Gupta took charge as chairman and managing director of GAIL (India) Limited, the country's largest gas transmission and marketing company. He succeeds Sandeep Kumar Gupta, who superannuated on February 28.

A mechanical engineer from Delhi College of Engineering, Gupta has over three decades of experience in the energy sector. Before taking over as chairman, he served as Director (Projects) at GAIL from February 2022. His tenure as CMD will continue until February 28, 2029.

Gupta’s expertise covers natural gas transmission, marketing, infrastructure development, project and construction management, global procurement, technology selection, business development, and operations. Under his leadership, GAIL completed the Dabhol breakwater project for Konkan LNG, ensuring all-weather operations. He has also spearheaded several digital transformation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and transparency.
