BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan strongly condemned alleged government attempts to demolish houses of Dalit families residing for nearly 60 to 70 years in Cherabanda Raju Nagar Colony near Bhadrakali Temple, describing the move as “inhuman” and a dangerous example of “bulldozer rule”.
On Wednesday, former Chief Whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, Sravan, members of the BRS Party Legal Cell, and affected residents approached the Telangana State Human Rights Commission (HRC), submitting a formal complaint to Chairman Justice Shameem Akther.
Sravan accused the authorities of trying to evict families in the name of development projects and model roads without due process or prior notices. He alleged that cutting drinking water connections and threatening electricity disconnections were coercive measures that have disrupted daily life, including children’s education.
According to him, despite multiple representations to district officials, no action was taken, prompting the victims to seek intervention from the Human Rights Commission. The Commission reportedly acknowledged constitutional concerns and assured immediate directions, with a review scheduled for March 9.
Questioning the government’s approach, Sravan said demolishing homes of vulnerable communities and cutting essential services undermines the democratic values and violates fundamental rights. He urged the officials to implement the Commission’s orders and protect the dignity and rights of Dalit families.
