Mancherial District Collector Kumar Deepak on Tuesday said paddy procured through government purchase centres is being safely stored in identified warehouses across the district to prevent damage due to unseasonal rains. He inspected the warehouse at Chennur Market Yard along with District Cooperative Officer Satyanarayana and Deputy Tahsildar Sanath.
The Collector said the government was taking all measures to protect farmers’ produce and ensure smooth transportation of paddy to allotted rice mills. He instructed officials to unload paddy arriving in lorries from procurement centres without delay.
Later, Kumar Deepak visited procurement centres set up at Asnad village, Ootkurpalle village in Chennur mandal, and Devulawada and Lakshmipur villages in Kotapalli mandal along with officials. He reviewed the procurement process and directed authorities to ensure there were no disruptions or hamali-related issues at the centres.
He also said farmers were being allowed to transport paddy to procurement centres using tractors this season for their convenience.
