Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy unveiled the book ‘Unika’, written by former Governor Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao at an event here on Sunday.Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy lauded Vidyasagar Rao as an exemplary leader for Telangana and he would be ‘Sagar ji’ for him.
He commended his journey from student politics in Osmania University to his roles as the president of the united Andhra Pradesh BJP, Union Minister and Governor of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. He further added, “Vidyasagar Rao has maintained an unblemished record, serving with a focus on ideology and integrity.”
Reflecting on legislative traditions, the Chief Minister emphasised collaborations between the ruling and opposition parties, recalling how past Assembly resolved issues through discussions rather than confrontation.” He said that he would take the opinion of all parties. Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya said that it was a good development that CM Revanth Reddy Vidyasagar Rao came to the book launch without any hesitation.
Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu made it clear that he will not resort to personal politics even if their ideologies differ. He said that Vidyasagar Rao brought fame to the united Karimnagar district as a Union Minister. He mentioned the incident when, as union minister, Vidyasagar Rao sanctione Rs. 10 lakhs to Rangiri Qilla as soon as he asked.
He recalled that his father, Sripada Rao, was very close to Vidyasagar Rao. He praised Vidyasagar Rao for playing his part in the Telangana movement. “The separate Telangana state did not come with one, two or three people. The state came only with the efforts of many leaders like Vidyasagar Rao, “Minister Sridhar Babu said.
He reminded that Vidyasagar Rao had done a padayatra for Godavari waters. He requested Vidyasagar Rao to use his good offices with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and do the needful for land acquisition at Tummidihatti irrigation Project.
He stated that Telangana must prioritise development over regional competition and urged for collaborative efforts to secure metro rail expansion projects and other infrastructure projects.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay, Odisha Governor Kambhampati Haribabu, Minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar were present on the occasion.
The book delves into Vidyasagar Rao’s reflections on governance, politics, and socio-economic challenges, offering a detailed account of his experiences as a public servant. Speaking about his literary endeavor, Vidyasagar Rao said, “Through this book, I aim to provide readers with a blend of my journey and a perspective on the evolving democratic ethos in our country,” said the former Governor.
