The Telangana CM A Revanth Reddy on Sunday unveiled the gold-plated 'Vimana Gopuram' at Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Yadagirigutta. The grand 'Mahakumbhabhishekam' ceremony marked the dedication of this magnificent structure to the deity, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries and devotees.
The gold-plated 'Vimana Gopuram,' standing at an impressive height of 50.5 feet and extending over 10,759 square feet, is now the tallest of its kind in the country. A total of 68 kg of 24-carat gold was used in the plating, employing advanced nano-technology to ensure its longevity. The gold-plated gopuram in Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple in Tirumala is 33 feet tall. The intricate craftsmanship was overseen by renowned Sthapathi Ravindran from Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu.
The consecration of the 'Vimana Gopuram' took place at 11:54 AM, aligning with the auspicious Pushkaramsha of Vrishabha Lagna and Moola Nakshatram, in accordance with Agama Shastra traditions. The ritual was performed under the guidance of Ramanuja Jeeyar Swami, the 31st pontiff of Vanamamalai Mutt.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accompanied by his spouse, entered the temple through the Uttara Rajagopuram and participated in the sacred ceremony, receiving blessings from temple priests and scholars. The event witnessed the presence of several prominent officials, including Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Government Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Whip Birla Beerla Ilayya, MPs, MLAs, religious heads, District Collector Hanumantha Rao, and Executive Officer Bhaskara Rao.
As part of the ritual, the golden structure was bathed with waters from the sacred rivers Ganga, Yamuna, Krishna, Godavari, Tungabhadra, and Narmada on February 23, before its formal unveiling. The temple is set to host the grand Brahmotsavams from March 1 to 23, further adding to the spiritual fervour.
