The Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has delivered a strong message to party MLAs, expressing displeasure over their lack of active participation in promoting the government's initiatives and engaging with the public.
The Chief Minister criticized some legislators for spending excessive time in Hyderabad and neglecting their constituencies. “Several MLAs are staying in the capital and engaging in politics only on weekends. This cannot continue,” he said sternly, while speaking in the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting held at a hotel in Shamshabad, attended by MPs, MLAs and MLCs of the party.
Highlighting the importance of grassroots outreach, Revanth Reddy instructed all Congress MLAs to visit every village in their constituencies from April 16 to June 2. “I will also meet the people from May 1 to June 2. We must take our welfare schemes and achievements directly to the people,” he stressed.
He emphasized the need for effective communication and countering misinformation, particularly on social media. “The opposition is spreading false propaganda using artificial intelligence, especially on the HCU lands issue. Even Prime Minister Modi believed these fabrications and made bulldozer comments,” the CM noted.
Revanth Reddy reiterated the significance of the welfare programs implemented by the Congress government. “It’s not just enough to do good for the people—we must also ensure that they know about it,” he said. “If we want to win again, we have to go to the people starting today.”
He called on MLAs to use social media to highlight the government’s work and dispel negative narratives. “None of our MLAs are utilising social media platforms to showcase the development and welfare schemes of the Congress government,” he lamented.
CM also issued a cautionary note regarding internal party discipline. “Do not speak openly about party matters. Everything you say is being recorded. The leadership will handle decisions regarding ministerial posts, there should be no confusion,” he warned.
Revanth Reddy lauded several key initiatives of the Congress government, calling them transformative and people centric. He described the Sanna Biyyam (Fine Rice) Scheme as a flagship welfare measure that echoes the historic Rs. 2 per kg rice program, branding it as Telangana’s unique and proud contribution to food security. He also highlighted the Bhu Bharati portal as a revolutionary step in empowering farmers by making land data easily accessible and transparent. The Indiramma Housing Scheme was hailed as a national benchmark, aimed at providing dignified housing to the deserving poor, with strict instructions to identify real beneficiaries at the grassroots level. The Chief Minister further emphasized the significance of the BC Caste Census and the SC categorisation Act, calling them historic legislative efforts that ensure 42 percent reservation in education, employment, and politics for the weaker sections, thereby resolving long-pending issues of social justice and equity.
“These reforms have rattled the BJP leadership. Caste census and SC categorisation have become a stumbling block for Prime Minister Modi. Telangana’s development model is now a matter of national debate,” CM remarked.
He further instructed MLAs to prepare development requirement reports for their constituencies, assuring them that the government would take responsibility for executing those plans.
